Dr. Laura Sobieck D.O., ABIHM
Medical Director
Dr. Laura Sobieck, D.O., ABIHM, is the founder and medical director of Soma Osteopathic Medical Center. Dr. Sobieck is a highly qualified Osteopathic Physician with triple board certification in Family Medicine/OMT, Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Integrative Holistic Medicine. With over 20 years of experience in Osteopathic Medicine, she combines various disciplines to provide comprehensive, holistic medical care.
Dr. Sobieck earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Montana, where she received training in Motivational Interviewing. This experience provided her with a foundation in behavior modification techniques which she continues to apply in assisting patients in changing behaviors and adopting healthier habits.
Dr. Sobieck completed her medical education at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA. Dr. Sobieck was fortunate to attend her first cranial course in medical school and has been certified in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field since 2005. She completed her Family Medicine/OMT and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine residencies at Downey Regional Medical Center in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Dr. Sobieck has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine since 2014. She is currently completing coursework to become a certified Culinary Medicine specialist.
In addition to her medical training, Dr. Sobieck has completed alternative educational pathways to help support her whole-person approach to treating patients. Because of her belief that health and wellbeing are impacted by our communities and environment, Dr. Sobieck pursued a Masters in Public Health at UCLA. Additionally, Dr. Sobieck is a certified yoga instructor with over 20 years of practice. She has studied Ayurvedic Medicine through the Maharishi Integrative Ayurveda Institute. Dr. Sobieck is passionate about integrating conventional medical practices with complementary and alternative therapies to help patients achieve optimal health: body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. Sobieck leads an active lifestyle. She enjoys hiking, snowboarding, yoga, and walking her dogs. Inspired by her grandmother, she embraces cooking, and loves to update traditional family recipes with “healthier” ingredients including fresh herbs from her garden.
